Hackers Suck
I love technology, sometimes. I appreciate having a spam filter which catches a lot of useless emails, but sometimes traps messages I need to see. Unfortunately, I don’t check my spam folder as often as I should, and as a result, someone from Estonia seems to have taken over the LisaShafferWords Facebook page.
I went into endless loops of menus and options that didn’t apply trying to reach someone at Facebook to find out how to regain control of the page. But since the hackers changed the email and phone numbers used to verify any changes, as well as the password for the page, I failed. A kindly friend who saw my notification on my main Facebook page even checked with his friend who is an ex-Facebook employee who said it was basically hopeless.
So, this blog post is solely for the purpose of disavowing anything weird or offensive that purports to come from me via this website or email address. If it looks inappropriate, it probably is, and I probably didn’t send or post it. Apologies in advance for anyone who is inconvenienced by this issue. Ultimately, it was my responsibility to look at the spam folder regularly. I should have questioned messages that looked odd. These days hackers are so good that it’s hard to know what’s a legitimate notice of a problem, and what’s another hacker trying to get into my business.
I will probably set up a new page with a slightly different name and hope my small band of followers still follow. Meanwhile, beware.
